Rothesay Pavilion Shop Display

My vision for the Rothesay Pavilion shop display is to highlight the hidden gem of Bute Island, and mark with an X the space where the creative spark of the isle can be shared with the world.

I drew inspiration from the building's architecture and design, and found three products of the art deco and bauhaus styles- the cathedrals of commerce (spaces rich in colour and texture used for hotels and retail); the bauhaus chess set and its minimalist, yet impactful shapes; and the geometric art of Piet Mondrian. The main textures and colours reflect these pieces, using metal with a gold finish as the main material, silk fabric in two shades for mimicking the impact of Mondrian's work, and a background touch of metal as a neutral base.

The primary display setup is made out of two elements: boxes of varying sizes, and a magnetic board with wheels only on one side to allow for easy movement and versatility. The varying sizes of the boxes allow for easy, Russian doll type storage when not in u
